VA23

I had been thinking about it for a while, and finally, I was the owner of The plot. I capitalize ‘The’ because this plot is exactly everything I wanted.

I knew what I wanted and how I wanted it, I just needed someone to help me make it happen, and that’s when I contacted Claudia Pardellans.

The relationship with the architect has been very close; she accompanied me and helped me navigate and understand the process with philosophy, putting obstacles into perspective to enjoy the adventure more.

At the beginning of the project, I gave very strict guidelines about the design and construction, but over time I discovered that the idea of the house I had fixed in my mind was much more flexible than I imagined. A very thorough work by Claudia, meetings that turned into a brainstorming session and constant collaboration, until reaching the final project.

The current design blends with the surroundings. It’s a house based on the cylindrical shape of Cavall Bernat, which crowns the house from the north, tracing the terrain without becoming a fully scaled building, maximizing privileged views of Vallès to the sea.

The main distinctive feature is its silhouette, uncommon but coherent when observing the surroundings. Built on conglomerates that ancient rivers and seas smoothed and rounded over millions of years, accompanied by wooden pergolas and surrounded by native plants and trees from the Serra de Sant Llorenç del Munt and l’Obac.

Its rooms, all offering unique views of Matadepera, and its round shape and surrounding pergolas, these wink at the name of the house forming a wave the same length as a 23 hertz wave at the speed of sound.

The house aims to blend with the surroundings resembling the surrounding rock formations, with non-invasive vegetation based on native plants, distributed on terraces to intervene as little as possible on the terrain.

The building will have a rainwater collection system and large volume tanks to have autonomy in all water consumption that is not for consumption.

The neighbors are nature-conscious people who value the proposal positively.

The project brings added value not found in all new constructions, which will help make Matadepera a more environmentally conscious town, while setting a precedent for good architecture and adaptation to the terrain.

I am happier with the design we have decided on than the one I proposed initially. Having an expert as the voice of reason and letting the proposals mature, they have all taken on a more practical and cohesive sense.
